Supporting Future Gardeners
The Old York Garden Club raises funds regularly to support this scholarship award. The recipient will be that student demonstrating outstanding achievement and promise in any of the allied plant sciences including, but not limited to:
botany, conservation, ecology, environmental studies, forestry, horticulture, landscape design, or sustainable agriculture.
The scholarship is in memory of Marion Prince Hosmer. It’s value is determined annually by the Club and paid directly to your academic institution in your name.
The Club is excited to announce that the value of the 2026 scholarship is $3,000! All applications must be received in full by May 1, 2026.

Eligibility
The applicant must:
- Be a legal Maine resident
- Be a full-time student (undergraduate or graduate) majoring in any of the allied plant sciences or related degree programs
- Have completed at least one full year of study at an institute of higher learning in the State of Maine or at the University of New Hampshire

Step 2: Once you receive the confirmation email that we’ve received your application, reply to the email with a PDF copy of your transcript.
Step 3: Ask two people to be a reference (one professional or academic and one personal) and have them submit a letter of recommendation for you by May 1, 2026 using the form here: scholarship reference form
